Aztecs trying to Snap Streak

Share

San Diego State will try to snap a two-game Western Athletic Conference road losing streak against Hawaii tonight. SDSU (13-4 and 4-2 in the WAC) lost to New Mexico and Texas El Paso last weekend.

On Tuesday night, the Aztecs easily defeated United States International University, 112-74, in a nonconference game played at the San Diego Sports Arena. It was a chance for Coach Smokey Gaines to play his reserves.

No starter played more than 28 minutes. Reserve guard Bobby Owens scored a career-high 19 points in 16 minutes, and forward John Martens scored 11 points and had 10 rebounds in 16 minutes. Martens underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee last month and is still trying to play his way back into shape.
