Greenpeace Wins Lawsuit Against Paper
Greenpeace won a libel suit Friday against a Norwegian provincial newspaper that accused the international environmental group of “terrorism” and “blind fanaticism.”
A municipal court fined Dagningen, a Social Democratic newspaper, $1,100 and ordered it to pay Greenpeace’s legal expenses of $30,200.
The court in Lillehammer, 70 miles north of Oslo, also awarded Greenpeace’s Danish division $3,300 in damages. The Danish division had filed the libel suit against the newspaper its accusations in an editorial last summer.
