Informatics General Corp., Woodland Hills, said it sold its life insurance systems business to The Continuum Co., Austin, Tex.

Northrop Corp., Hawthorne, said it has been awarded a $48.7-million U.S. Air Force contract to provide guidance units for the new small missiles program.

Glovers Mills Co., City of Industry, said it purchased Thompson Safety Equipment Co., Los Angeles, a subsidiary of Wolverine World Wide, Rockford, Mich. The two companies will be merged into a new corporation to be known as Safety West, City of Industry.

Velo-Bind Inc., Sunnyvale, Calif.,said it has agreed to acquire Supply Express, Agoura, in a deal valued at about $1.5 million.

Acme General Corp., San Dimas, said it has its subsidiary, Acme Burgess Inc., Grayslake, Ill., to Armatron International Inc., Melrose, Mass. for cash.

Object Recognition Systems, Princeton, N.J., said it sold its 62.5%-owned subsidiary, Vulcan Software, to Daisy Systems Corp., Mountain View, for $1.75 million in cash.

Watkins-Johnson Co., Palo Alto, said it was awarded a contract valued at about $4.5 million by General Dynamics Corp., St. Louis.
