Two Track Coaches Will Receive Awards

Coaches Dick Brown and John Moon are among four prominent contributors to the sport of track and field scheduled to receive the 1985 Jesse Abramson Award at the U.S. Olympic Invitational Meet on Feb. 9.

Francis J. Heffron, a member of the executive committee of the United States Olympic Committee, and Bert Rosenthal, a track and field writer for the Associated Press, are the other recipients.

Brown is the coach of star distance runner Mary Decker and an advisor to the Athletics West Track Club. Brown guided Decker to her double victory at the 1983 World Championships.

Moon has served as track and field coach at Seton Hall University for 13 years. He has led his team to IC4A, Big East and Metropolitan Conference championships.

The award is named for Jesse Abramson, a track and field writer for the defunct New York Herald Tribune. He served as meet director until his death in 1979.
