The Region : 2 Plead No Contest to ‘Sex Slave’ Counts

Share

A transient couple accused of imprisoning a young Alaska woman as a sex slave for nine months have pleaded no contest to charges of attempted murder, rape and slavery. Theodore and Mildred Glaum were arrested last March after Irwindale police found 18-year-old Nickie Moeller, emaciated and beaten, strapped to a couch in the couple’s motor home. She testified that she had been tortured, starved and sold as a prostitute for nine months after she met the Glaums at the US Festival of rock music near Devore in May, 1983. On March 12, Pomona Superior Court Judge Sam Cianchetti is expected to sentence Theodore Glaum, 54, to 14 years in state prison, and his wife, Mildred, 37, to 9 years.
