The clock broke down in the second half of the non-conference game between Pepperdine and U.S. International Tuesday night.

It figured. Neither team worked very well, either. But Pepperdine Tuesday’s Game

came away with a 75-56 win before 1,013 fans at Firestone Fieldhouse in Malibu.

Pepperdine, 5-1 in the West Coast Athletic Conference, raised its overall record to 17-7. USIU fell to 1-21.

Dwayne Polee scored 22 points and Eric White added 16 for the Waves, who shot 45.7% for the game after hitting just 40.6% in the first half.

Pepperdine led at halftime, 34-25, even though their best shooters were missing with regularity.

Polee, who finished with an 8-of-14 shooting night, was only 3 of 7 in the first half. Jon Korfas, who finished with six points, was 1 of 5 from the field in the first half, 3 of 8 for the game.

USIU, whose only win was over Cal State Long Beach--and that by one point--shot 40% for the game and committed 19 turnovers.

Pepperdine outrebounded USIU, 46-32, but forward Craig Masek grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds for the Gulls.

USIU’s leading scorers were Dwayne Cross with 13 points and Greg Daniel with 11.

The Waves will meet nationally ranked DePaul Saturday.
