An extremist Jewish organization has threatened to assassinate Israeli Prime Minister Shimon Peres during a forthcoming visit to Rome on Feb. 18, the Italian news agency ANSA said. The Italian news service said the threat came in a letter with a Vienna postmark that was delivered to its Rome office. The purported letter was signed by the clandestine Jewish organization Terror against Terror, which has a history of violence against Arabs on the West Bank. It accused Peres of having “betrayed Zionism,” of defending “Arab assassins” and wanting to let the Israeli state “fall to pieces.”
