Richard Raymond Keith, 47, an associate of Orange County businessman W. Patrick Moriarty, pleaded innocent in Los Angeles to an amended federal indictment charging him with 13 counts of tax evasion and false statements in loan applications. Keith has been accused of failing to pay $520,000 in federal taxes from 1979 to 1982. Chief Assistant U.S. Atty. Richard E. Drooyan said that total was reduced to $475,000 in the new indictment. Keith, of Cathedral City, has been a key figure in the federal corruption probes of Moriarty, who faces a Feb. 26 trial on racketeering charges in connection with the licensing of a poker club in the City of Commerce.
