Mary Decker Slaney, who dropped out of a 1,500-meter race Saturday after developing a cramp in her right leg, returned home to Oregon from New York.

“She received treatment on her leg Sunday,” said Ray Lumpp, meet director of the U.S. Olympic Invitational. “She felt much better and was able to walk around.”

There was still no word on whether the injury was just a cramp or a muscle tear, as feared.

In London, organizers of Britain’s international track meet against Romania Sept. 14 say they plan to invite Slaney, setting up a rematch involving Slaney, Britain’s Zola Budd and gold medalist Maricica Puica of Romania in the women’s 3,000-meter race.
