Accused Rapist Guilty in 3 Spokane Assaults

SEATTLE —
Kevin Coe, the accused “South Hill Rapist” believed responsible for more than 40 rapes in Spokane, was convicted Tuesday of three assaults, but the jury failed to reach a verdict in a fourth case.
Coe, 38, alternately described as the victim of mistaken identity and a “crafty” tactician who meticulously planned his vicious attacks, showed little emotion as the verdict was announced after 37 hours of jury deliberation.
Coe faces a maximum sentence of 20 years to life on each of the three counts.
