Santa Monica

The City Council has adopted rules, procedures and fees to regulate the storage of hazardous materials in underground tanks.

City Manager John Jalili said there are about 200 underground tanks in the city. He added that it would cost $6,000 to bring each tank up to the standards.

The council appropriated $110,000 to begin implementing the regulations.
