MOSCOW —
Anti-Marxist rebels detonated a mine in a mosque in an Afghan village, killing five people, the Soviet news agency Tass said Friday in a dispatch from Afghanistan.
Tass said in the dispatch from Kabul, the Afghan capital, that the bombing in the Herat province of Fushfar caused an undisclosed number of injuries.
Tass said the rebels, “encouraged and financed by the Western secret services,” also had burned down other mosques in Afghanistan and killed religious figures. Tass provided no details on other incidents.
