Libyan leader Moammar Kadafi urged black U.S. servicemen to leave the military and create a separate army because the United States “must be destroyed.” Kadafi, in a 40-minute speech sent via satellite from Libya to a Chicago convention of the Nation of Islam, which is led by the Rev. Louis Farrakhan, urged U.S. blacks to fight for an independent state because they have been excluded by whites from political and social life in the United States. Farrakhan called Kadafi “a fellow struggler in the cause of liberation” of blacks.
