Ancient People

Your fine editorial tribute to the achievements of ancient people in Peru (Feb. 3), “In the Clouds of History,” deserves one minor change. You say, “In many ways their accomplishments were no less remarkable than our own.”
No sir, when we remember the wheel or the domestication of plants, or the most remarkable invention of all--language--the accomplishments of early man were more remarkable than our own, and appreciating them can be the basis for greater tolerance and understanding of our fellow men presently on the planet with us.
