The USDA said February’s farm prices held steady.

Although prices for raw products were firm, they still averaged 6.2% below year-earlier levels, the department reported. The price index had been above year-earlier marks for almost 1 1/2 years before edging lower in December, January and February. However, the report also included revised figures showing that prices in January also held steady instead of declining, as last month’s preliminary report indicated. The department’s Crop Reporting Board said lower prices for lettuce, cotton, soybeans, oranges and lemons during February were partly offset by higher prices for cattle, hogs, sweet corn and strawberries.
