Farmers Group Inc. reported that earnings for 1984 were up 34% from the previous year. The Los Angeles-based group of insurance companies attributed the increase to higher premium income and a growing number of policies in force. Increased income was offset in part by higher overhead, a greater pay-out in salesmen’s commissions and increases in tax rates.
