Toxic Waste

Our ubiquitous Environmental Protection Agency has proposed rules for burning hazardous liquid wastes at sea, without even waiting for the completion of its own research into the subject. Fortunately, the proposal will not become effective until after public hearings.

Making the proposal before the completion of the research is foolish, and makes one wonder how much significance they give to such research. We have done sufficient damage to our home environment to cause us to look elsewhere for waste disposal. The two basic environmental factors common to every nation are air and oceans. We cannot expect other nations to accept this, and I hope they do not. To think we can make the rest of the world share in our toxic waste problem is indeed an arrogant assumption.
