Church of Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard failed to appear for a deposition in Los Angeles as ordered last week by U.S. District Judge Manuel Real in connection with a libel suit the church filed against Boston attorney Michael J. Flynn. Flynn’s attorney, Jeff Tidus, said a motion to dismiss the suit will be filed today because of Hubbard’s failure to comply with the court order. The Rev. Heber Jentzsch, president of the church, said Scientology officials did not know how to reach Hubbard to inform him of the court order. Hubbard has not been seen in public since 1980.
