Flooding Hits Ukraine

MOSCOW —
Heavy floods from melting river ice have swept the southern Ukraine, swamping main roads, threatening hundreds of settlements and forcing the evacuation of thousands of families, Izvestia said Tuesday. The government newspaper said that more than 12,000 families have already been evacuated from their homes and that almost 300 towns and villages are threatened by flood water.
