Hearing Next Week on Batiquitos Plans
Officials with Hunt Properties Inc., the development company owned by Texas silver magnates Nelson Bunker and W. Herbert Hunt, will present their plan to restore Batiquitos Lagoon at a public meeting next Wednesday.
The Hunts plan to build a hotel, golf course and residential community on 1,385 acres they own north of Batiquitos Lagoon. As part of the project, the Hunts hope to use a pumping system to keep water in the lagoon year-round.
In addition to company Vice President D.L. Clemens, speakers will include a hydrologist and a biologist who worked on the lagoon restoration plan. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at Carlsbad’s Harding Center Auditorium, 3096 Harding St.
