A former San Pedro real estate agent was sentenced this week by a Los Angeles Superior Court judge to four years in state prison after pleading no contest to 10 felony counts of grand theft in connection with an investment scam involving up to $180,000.

Sandra Lippman, 39, faced a maximum of eight years in prison, but was given the lesser time because she had no prior criminal record, according to Deputy Dist. Atty. Rebecca Lewis.

Lippman could not be reached for comment. Her attorney, Ray Legg of Torrance, declined to discuss the case.

Lewis said the alleged scam took place between 1978 and August, 1983. She said Lippman pocketed money given to her by clients for real estate investments. Lippman was arrested in June and entered her plea in a January preliminary hearing.

Lewis said about 15 people were vicitmized by the scheme.
