The biggest fire in Hamburg since 1948 raged for six hours in a dockside storage shed Thursday, causing millions of dollars worth of damage but no injuries, police said.

About 380 firemen were called to fight the blaze while ships were moved elsewhere to avoid the flames, which soared 200 feet. No one was injured.

Officials said the blaze destroyed one-fourth of a 1,000-foot shed containing tobacco, cocoa, coffee, rubber and chemicals. The cause of the fire was unknown, but a police spokesman said there was no reason to suspect arson.
