Robbers Flushed Out; Plan Goes Down Drain

DUBLIN, Ireland —
A gang of bank robbers tunneled 25 yards underground, crept through sewers and cut a two-foot hole in a basement wall, only to come out in the women’s bathroom instead of the bank vault, police said today.
That triggered an electronic alarm in a police station half a mile away and the gang--size unknown--fled empty-handed. They left behind cutting equipment, digging tools, a gas cylinder and a crowbar, police said.
