5 Children Killed by Mortar Shell

THEBES, Greece —
Five children were killed and one was badly wounded today when a mortar shell they found near their Gypsy camp exploded while they were playing with it, police said.
A police spokesman said the blast occurred near the Gypsy camp, about 500 yards from a Greek army firing range and just outside the village of Neochoraki. He declined to say what the shell was doing outside the range.
