London Opens First Homosexual Haven
From Reuters
LONDON —
The British capital Tuesday opened its first haven for homosexuals in a five-story converted warehouse.
The staff sent up a cloud of pink balloons to celebrate the inauguration of the London Lesbian and Gay Center, built with $840,000 provided by the city’s local government.
Facilities include a nursery for lesbian mothers, a “women’s space” where men are not allowed, a printing workshop and darkroom, a bar, a cafe and a disco.
