Barclays Mortgage responded to an S&L; lawsuit.
The Irvine firm said it was “disturbed” by a lawsuit filed against it last week by Progressive Savings & Loan Assn. of Alhambra. The statement, issued by Barclays Chairman J. F. Parrish, was the first public reply to the suit. Progressive is seeking $3 million that it says the mortgage firm owes it in connection with faulty loans that Barclays packaged. Parrish said his company “would be willing to undertake actions designed to cure any defaulted loan.” Barclays Mortgage is not related to London-based Barclays Bank.
