The Region : Hedgecock Wins Delay of Second Trial

Share

San Diego Mayor Roger Hedgecock won a three-month delay in the start of his second trial on felony charges of conspiracy and perjury and court permission to replace his attorney. Superior Court Judge Barbara T. Gamer agreed to postpone the start of the trial until Aug. 22 and to replace defense attorney Michael Pancer with Las Vegas lawyer Oscar B. Goodman. Hedgecock said he broke off plea-bargaining negotiations because he believes he is innocent and because he felt that prosecutors’ demands that he resign from office and stay out of politics proved that the charges against him were politically motivated.
