ST. PAUL, Minn. — Archbishop John Roach, spiritual leader of 600,000 Roman Catholics in the Minneapolis-St. Paul diocese and the former president of the National Conference of Bishops, began serving a 38-hour jail term Friday for drunken driving.
Roach, 63, was arrested Feb. 21 after he drove his car into the side of a convenience store in Lindstrom, a town of 1,600 about 30 miles north of St. Paul.
