WE’RE FOR AFRICA

Although I am not particularly fond of the song “We Are the World” or even the artists who took part in the recording, I find it is the attitude displayed by people such as E. Espinosa that is most appalling (Calendar Letters, March 31).

What Espinosa doesn’t seem to understand is that by giving up even one day of their lives in order to make this recording, the artists involved contributed more on a personal level than most of the people in the United States are probably willing to. Why belittle any contribution? That seems to indicate small and selfish thinking.
