Sudan Wants Better Soviet Ties

Sudan’s military ruler today said the new government wants to improve relations with the Soviet Union, Libya and Ethiopia and called for revision of the country’s strict Islamic law.

Gen. Abdul-Rahman Suwar Dahab told a news conference that he has had high-level contacts with Soviet officials aimed at improving bilateral relations. “We would like to correct certain relations with countries that the past regime allowed to deteriorate . . . ,” Dahab said. “By this, we mean the U.S.S.R., Libya and Ethiopia.”
