This Islamic country has offered to help Chinese Muslims train clergymen and to renovate mosques and religious schools, a government spokesman said Sunday.

The offer was made by Maqbool Ahmad, minister of state for religious affairs, at a meeting in the Pakistani capital here with a visiting Chinese Muslim delegation headed by Hussain Heiboli.

Pakistan, whose leaders have recently been accepting some fundamentalist Islamic tenets, is an ally of China.
