The head of the Military Airlift Command, concerned about declining re-enlistments, is asking “a select group” of former Air Force pilots if they would like to rejoin. Air Force Gen. Thomas M. Ryan Jr. started mailing the personalized letters last month to about 60 fliers who have left the service within the last four years. His message: You can’t beat the “camaraderie and esprit de corps” of military life.
