George Scharffenberger, a New York City investment executive, has been elected chairman of the USC Board of Trustees, the university’s governing body. Formerly a senior vice president of Litton Industries, Scharffenberger, 65, is chairman and chief executive officer of City Investing Co. of New York. He succeeds Carl Hartnack, who served five years as board chairman and will remain a member.
