President Reagan announced Tuesday that he will nominate John Arthur Ferch as U.S. ambassador to Honduras, replacing John D. Negroponte, in a continuing realignment of U.S. diplomatic personnel in Central America.

Ferch, 49, a senior Foreign Service officer, has been the chief of the U.S. Interests Section in Havana, since 1982.

Last month, Reagan announced that he was nominating Negroponte, 45, to the post of assistant secretary of state for oceans and international environment and scientific affairs.
