Producers of the ABC news magazine “20/20” flew Fox to Germany, and he appeared April 18 on the program that recalled the April day in 1945 when American and Russian forces joined hands.

Before coming to The Times in 1965, where he also was an assistant news editor and assistant to the foreign editor, Fox had been with United Press International.

He is survived by his wife, Ima, nine children and two grandchildren. The cause of his death has not been determined, his wife said. Funeral services are pending.
