Israel’s Knesset (Parliament) voted 62 to 5 to reject a no-confidence motion over allegations that Cabinet minister Ezer Weizman leaked state secrets to the White House. The motion, offered by the hard-line Tehiya Party, sought to topple Prime Minister Shimon Peres’ government over his refusal to suspend Weizman and order an inquiry into the charges. Weizman is accused of leaking information through U.S. lawyer Leon Charney to Carter Administration officials during the Camp David peace negotiations in 1978.
