The barrier wall system, designed originally for Grand Prix auto racing in 1982, is now being used in highway construction in the United States.

Grand Prix races, such as the famous runs at Monaco and Detroit, stress tight turns on city streets. Since public roads are not designed for racing, a system had to be developed that could be constructed and repaired quickly and yet be sturdy enough to withstand collisions.

The resulting barrier wall system, because of its mobility, proved more efficient than steel guard rails. The system is now being used on interstate highways during construction and is paving the way in areas such as erosion control, refuse handling and business and military security.
