Seven leading Afghan resistance groups announced the formation of an alliance and vowed to bury past differences in a united drive to defeat Soviet troops in Afghanistan. The group, called the Islamic Alliance of Afghan Moujahedeen, brings together parties from two earlier competing coalitions.
