Doctor Strike Deepens

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic —
Physicians in this Caribbean island nation extended a strike Friday by walking out of government-run hospitals and clinics, where they had been providing emergency services during a five-day-old strike. The doctors are demanding a doubling of their wages, which now average $217 a month.
