The United Church of Christ’s Board for World Ministries reversed a longstanding policy and agreed to call for full divestment from corporations with “direct investment” in South Africa. The United States’ oldest overseas mission agency, which took the action at its annual spring meeting in Hartford, Conn., estimated that the decision could cost the organization 10% of its annual $2-million investment income.
