West Point Has Its 1st Viet-Born Grads

Two Vietnam-born graduates, the first in West Point history, were among 1,010 cadets who joined the Long Gray Line today at graduation ceremonies of the U.S. Military Academy.

Hung Vu of Queens, N.Y., and Jean Nguyen of Milton, Pa., both 21, joined the legendary ranks of Robert E. Lee, U. S. Grant, Douglas MacArthur and Dwight D. Eisenhower along with 19 other Asian-Americans, 80 blacks, 54 Latinos, 2 American Indians and 115 women, the highest number of females ever to graduate from the academy.
