Former U.N. Leaders to Discuss World Body
Thirteen men and one woman who have served as president of the U.N. General Assembly will gather here next month to discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the world body.
Under Secretary General Michel Doo Kingue, who arranged the session, said Tuesday that the group’s deliberations will be private but their conclusions and recommendations will be published at the end of the session June 10.
Kingue told reporters that 23 of the 39 past presidents survive but not all of these were able to accept his invitation. The event was proposed as part of this year’s U.N. 40th anniversary commemoration.
