Hairdressers in Lebanon’s northern port city of Tripoli resumed work Thursday after closing for a week under pressure from Islamic fundamentalist militiamen.

The fundamentalists allowed them to reopen provided they allowed only female staff to cut women’s hair, authorities said. Four hairdressing salons were bombed over the last 10 days because male hairdressers were dealing with women clients, they said.
