Four Teamsters Ordered to Start Prison Sentences

Share

Four Teamsters Union officials who had unsuccessfully appealed 1982 prison sentences on racketeering charges were ordered by a Los Angeles federal judge to begin serving their sentences July 1.

U.S. District Judge Robert M. Takasugi made his ruling Monday, after denying a request for a reduction of the sentences. Sten Thordarson, 43, and Martin Fry, 45, were sentenced to 30 months by Takasugi more than two years ago for their part in the burning of three trucks during a labor dispute with a Thousand Oaks moving company in 1978. Craig Dunbar, 34, and Martin Salgado, 44, had received two-year prison terms.

The four, who had remained free pending their appeals, were local officials of the Teamsters Union in the Los Angeles area.
