U.S. Repeating Arms and Savage plan to merge.

Terms of the agreement between the two closely held companies were not disclosed. U.S. Repeating manufactures the Winchester rifle. The combined company, with annual revenue of $80 million, will be one of the nation's largest sporting-arms manufacturers. Both firms are among the nation's oldest rifle and shotgun makers and were acquired by a small group of investors from larger conglomerates within the past five years. The merger is expected to be completed within the next few weeks.
