United Strike Proving Costly to Postal Service

WASHINGTON —
The Postal Service expects to lose about $2 million this year because the United Airlines pilots’ strike is forcing it to transport some mail by truck instead of plane, an official said Tuesday.
Assistant Postmaster General William A. Campbell told the service’s governing board that transporting second-class mail by truck is more costly.
