Reuters Cancels Bid For UPI
Associated Press
NEW YORK —
Reuters today announced it is no longer interested in acquiring United Press International because “UPI has not supplied requested information.”
The London-based news service said it had expressed its interest in UPI in writing on May 14 and at a meeting with UPI management the next day. However, UPI did not respond to Reuters’ requests for information “on which to base a firm bid and Reuters was therefore unable to proceed,” Reuters said in a brief statement.
