Douse That Light, Save on Gas Bill

Share

Residential natural gas bills can be reduced by an average of $16 a month by shutting off furnace pilot lights for the summer, according to the Southern California Gas Co.

Actual savings during the four-month period should range from $6 to $38 a month, depending on the size of the pilot light, said Mike Neiggemann, gas company vice president.

He said gas company service personnel would visit individual homes and apartments without charge to turn pilot lights off and show customers how to turn the pilots on again safely in the fall.
