Officials of the League to Save Lake Tahoe says the group will not oppose holding the 1992 Winter Olympic Games in the Reno-Tahoe area, but “will work to mitigate damage to the Tahoe Basin.” In a letter to William Martin, a member of the Games organizing committee, a league official said the group is concerned about road congestion, air quality standards and the construction of a “major athletic facility.” The site that the U.S. Olympic Committee will propose for the 1992 games will be chosen Saturday at an executive board meeting in Indianapolis.
