The Soviet Union has rejected a U.S. offer to share in the technology for space-based defenses being developed under President Reagan’s “Star Wars” program, Paul H. Nitze, the chief U.S. arms control adviser, said in Geneva. “They claim it would be a humiliation for them to participate in such a joint effort,” he said on a satellite link-up with reporters in West European capitals. U.S. and Soviet negotiators spent almost 3 1/2 hours discussing space weapons, the sticking point in the Geneva arms control talks, U.S. delegation spokesmen said.
